Ever wondered how a stranger perceives the place you grew up in?
We usually tend to go about our daily lives without paying much attention to the things that make our hometown special to the foreign eye.
If you look closely, you may finally understand what makes your beloved hometown stand out from the rest.
This season, instead of looking for solace elsewhere, plan a ‘staycation’ instead!
Let us tell you how.
Check-in!
Ever passed by a hotel which caught your eye?
Well, it’s time to see what’s inside!
Check-in to a hotel so that you can start your staycation on a positive note.
Room service, breakfast in bed, cozy blankets, and no chores.
Need we say more?
Don’t Save it for Later
So many times we pass by a heritage building or a little nature trail and think,
“Ah, I have to go there sometime”.
Well, don’t wait anymore.
You may be surprised to see what you were missing.
The Road Less Travelled
Another way to explore your hometown as a tourist is to take a route that you have never taken before.
Hop on a bus and take a ride to a place that you had only heard of.
Explore new places, see what interests you, and keep discovering new places until you are happily fatigued.
Take a Food Tour
Instead of ordering your regular favourite at your most-frequented food joint, head out to a new restaurant and try out other dishes.
Ask for their best dish and check out specialties that you might have missed out before.
You never know when you find a hint of foreignness in the familiar.
Be a Tourist
You have to feel like a tourist to actually be one.
Click photos in front of random places, ask for directions, take a stroll at a park, sit by a lake or try out the street food in a new neighbourhood.
To really feel like a tourist in your own hometown, you can also sign up for a guided tour and see how the tour guide perceives the place you were born in.
So, when are you heading out to see your hometown for the first time?
