There’s something truly magical about Bhutan. It’s not just about its commitment to Gross National Happiness or that finding shopping malls are really difficult. It’s not the spectacular landscape or the amazing people. Bhutan has something in it for everyone. For us, we like to call that magic. Our Bhutan tours help you find a little bit of that magic.
When you land in Paro, there is no need to rush about. Spend some time soaking in the place. The flight into Paro is one of the most spectacular in the world, and a true tribute to the pilot’s skills. You will spend the rest of the day exploring Paro. Stay overnight in a homestay in Paro
Paro is a charming, historic town with much to explore. After breakfast, take a hike up to Taktsang Monastery. The trek to the top takes around two or three hours, but we assure you that it is worth it. The view from top is breathtaking and the strenuous climb a distant memory when you see it. In the afternoon, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress dating back to the 16th century. Now that you have had a tough day, we suggest a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath at your homestay in Paro.
You will have a day of driving today, around five hours to reach Haa, which is a beautiful and scenic valley. The place has only recently been opened to travelers and you will obtain sweeping views of Mount Jhomolhari from Chela Pass. Stay overnight in Haa, if you wish, or come back to Paro.
Thimphu is the administrative capital of Bhutan. The capital is just an hour’s drive from Paro and temples such as the Changangkha Lhakhang offer wonderful views over the valley. You are never far from the mountains in Bhutan. In the evening, you will depart for Punakha, which is a five-hour drive from Thimphu.
Punakha was the erstwhile capital of Bhutan till 1955. The valley is known for its rice farming and picturesque fields beckon you from everywhere. You can visit the Punakha Dzong, the suspension bridge, and Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Lhakhang. But we have something special for you after lunch. Try your hand at traditional Bhutanese sports like Khuru and archery. Stay overnight in Punakha.
You will have a day’s drive of about five hours to reach Paro. Stop at Chini Lhakhang on the way and see the magnificence of the Dochula La Pass. Overnight in Paro and prepare for the return to your country the next day.
Check out from your guesthouse, and be prepared to embrace the gorgeous mountains one last time!
