[su_dropcap]O[/su_dropcap]nce you arrive at Leh airport, spend the rest of the day to just take rest before you start your Leh Ladakh tour. You have to get used to the altitude! For sunset, visit the Shanti Stupa (a Japanese Pagoda built for world peace by Indian-based Japanese monks and inaugurated by His Holiness Dalai Lama in 1985). Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Leh.
After breakfast, drive toward Sham valley to see the 1000-year-old Alchi monastery, the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the Indus and Zanskar, visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), and further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia).
After early breakfast, leave for Pangong Lake (14,500ft), 4-5 hrs drive one way through Changla Pass (17,350ft and the third highest motorable road in the world. This famous blue brackish salt water lake is 5-6 km in width and around 134 km in length. Drive back to Leh via same route.
After breakfast drive to Khardungla Pass (18,380ft) the world’s highest motorable road and gateway to Siachen Glacier, the views from the top of the pass are amazing. Post lunch, you are free to explore the local markets of Leh.
It may be a flight or a short flight back home. Either way, we know that you have lots of memories.
