Downsize your luggage
If you’re going to fly,
then packing is the most important step.
Packing light not only reduces the extra baggage but also reduces
the chances of being penalized for being over the luggage limit.
- Take small lightweight suitcases instead of big heavy ones. They’re easier to carry while on the journey and also more convenient to manage once you reach the place.

- If you’re carrying some electronic and/or any fragile items, then make sure it’s packed separately.
- Limit the number of bags you’re carrying. Also, keep most of the essentials that you’ll need with you during the journey in a handbag.
- You can also pack a small day pack inside your suitcase. In that way you won’t have to pay for both the bags at the airport.
Pack efficiently
- Plan before you pack.
Spontaneous packing often leads to either forgetting some or the other needful items behind or packing things in a way that takes up more space than usual.
- Write out a list before you start.
If you have a list to consult, then you’ll have a constant reminder when you’re going overboard.
- Do some research about the place you’re going to be in.
If it’s warm, then half the job is done for you ; clothes for hot and humid weather usually take up less space. However, if it’s going to be chilly and cold, then you have to prioritize.
